RALEIGH, N.C. — By now we've all heard that one big step against the spread of coronavirus is constant cleaning. That includes your phone, tablet and computer.

Most of us just aren't in the habit of cleaning our devices. Considering how many times a day we touch them, we should be in the habit. With all the calls, texts and emails we get, our phones are our lifelines and travel everywhere with us.

So it's a good idea to take steps to safely disinfect it and other devices.

Keeping your devices clean during coronavirus
Disinfectant wipes, if you an find them, are the go-to. They're good for your keyboard and if you have a screen protector on your phone. Another option is 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes, usually found in the medical supply aisle. Apple and Google say they are safe on phones and won't damage the oleophobic coating on the display. That's the coating that prevents the accumulation of finger prints on the display.

Experts say don't use bleach and avoid getting moisture in any of the openings. For your case, soap and water work just fine on most of them.

Think of how much we're all washing our hands and get your phone and devices into that mix, too.
