GASTONIA, N.C. — A North Carolina Highway Patrol officer based in Gastonia was arrested on Saturday afternoon and charged with larceny.

Jerome John Letcavage, 44, is accused of stealing weights and resistance bands from a local YMCA valued at $5,000.

He was arrested but released 15 minutes later with a written promise to appear, according to WCNC's reporting.
