Gas prices continue to soar
For more than three weeks straight, gas prices have risen each day. The Triangle is on par with the national average of $3.74 per gallon.
Posted — Updated"It is pretty rough. I usually wait until I absolutely have to get gas to stop," driver Kelly McCaskill said Thursday.
McCaskill spent $73 filling up her pickup truck.
"There's a lot of gas stations around here, so I try to hunt for the cheapest one, but they usually stay about in the same range," McCaskill said.
The cost is even higher for diesel engines.
Mark England runs a local branch of AdvantaClean, a company that does fire and water restoration. He puts at least $100 in his truck every week.
"Especially in this economy, it's really hard to push that cost on to the consumer," England said.
England said his company does everything it can to save on gas, including always taking the most direct route possible to a job.
Experts say a big reason for high gas prices is fear about the supply of gas being disrupted if a military conflict occurs between Israel and Iran.
Some experts believe gas could top out at $4.25 or $4.50 a gallon.
