Gas leak repaired in Cary

Cary police closed West Chatham Street near Harrison Avenue and evacuated some buildings until the leak was repaired.

CARY, N.C. — Town of Cary employees were working on a water line when they struck a gas line, rupturing it and starting a leak.

Cary police closed West Chatham Street near Harrison Avenue and evacuated some buildings until the leak was repaired. The road was re-opened by 9 p.m., a town spokeswoman said.

Traffic was diverted from the area until the leak was repaired.
