CARY, N.C. — A gas leak near WakeMed Cary has caused a road closure near the intersection of Tryon Road and Ashville Avenue.

Ashville Avenue has been closed to traffic, impacting only one entrance to the hospital, according to officials. Crews from Dominion Energy are on the scene, but officials said they were not sure how long it would take to shut off the gas.

O'Charley's, a nearby restaurant, has voluntarily evacuated.

The gas leak is related to the road construction, said officials, and, aside from the road closure and voluntary evacuation of the restaurant, is causing no impact to the hospital or surrounding businesses. The fire department is monitoring the air quality.
