Downtown Raleigh gas leak
RALEIGH, N.C. — Police closed some roads in downtown Raleigh for several hours Sunday as they worked to cap a natural gas leak at West Edenton Street.

Fire officials said that a vehicle struck a meter on a building around 10:45 a.m., rupturing a 1.75-inch gas line. Crews had to bring in special equipment but had the leak controlled around 1 p.m.

Traffic was detoured while Edenton Street was temporarily closed between Harrington and Dawson streets.
