Garner hosting free job boot camp Tuesday
The Town of Garner will partner with the state Housing Finance Agency and Professionals in Transition on Tuesday to host a free job search boot camp to give job seekers tips on how to look for a job, market themselves and successfully complete interviews.
Posted — UpdatedThe two-session event will be held at the Garner Performing Arts Center at 742 W. Garner Road. The first session will be from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the second session will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
J. Damian Birkel, a certified career counselor and founder of Professionals in Transition, will teach job seekers how to market themselves competitively, capitalize on their existing skills and learn ways to make the most of job search resources. Interested job seekers can register for the boot camp in person.
The state Housing Finance Agency will also hold an informational session about the North Carolina Foreclosure Prevention Fund, a state-run program funded by the U.S. Department of Treasury.
The fund provides zero-interest deferred loans of up to $36,000 to qualified North Carolina homeowners who are struggling to make mortgage payments due to job loss or other financial hardships.
