RALEIGH, N.C. — From Roxboro to Durham to Wake Forest, flurries flew Monday afternoon as temperatures dropped into the 30s.

The likelihood for a stray sprinkle with any kind of precipitation ended at midnight on Monday.

While the first snowfall of the season in the Triangle was short lived, many people said they enjoyed it.

"It was phenomenal for the few moments that we did get it," said Gerren Keith Davis.

"It's nice to see as long as we can get rid of it by the morning and not have to shovel it," said Victor Siha.

The North Carolina mountains saw the first snow of the season last week, with up to 5 inches of accumulation reported in some places.
WRAL's winter outlook predicts above-normal temperatures in the months ahead with a few cold snaps. Some snow is expected, with meteorologists predicting a total through the season of 3 to 5 inches.
