RALEIGH, N.C. — Tired of the heat? WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner says we'll get a "taste of fall" midweek, but not before more storms and humidity.

There is a 20 percent chance for storms Sunday afternoon and evening, according to Gardner. Any storms that pop up will be scattered and shouldn't be severe, and highs will be in the upper 80s.

Monday and Tuesday will behave similarly, with highs in the upper 80s and a small chance for storms. According to Gardner, Monday will be very humid while Tuesday will be more tolerable.

The noticeably cooler air moves in Wednesday, Gardner said, when a front delivers a more comfortable air mass. The high in Raleigh on Wednesday is expected to hover around 80 degrees, and Thursday will be even cooler, with a high in the upper 70s.

Both days will be far less humid than what we've endured lately, Gardner said. The first day of fall is Monday, Sept. 23.
