RALEIGH, N.C. — Get ready to smile when you walk outside Thursday -- thanks to a cold front that moved into the area overnight, typical summer temperatures and humidity have dropped.

"With dew points in the 50s and 60s, the area will have its first taste of fall," said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.

Current Temperatures, DMA

A high of only 81 degrees is expected in Raleigh today, and Gardner said we will notice a decrease in humidity right away.

On top of the milder temperatures, there is no threat for rain, and the sunshine will be abundant.

Friday will be similarly beautiful with highs in the mid 80s and, again, decreased humidity.

Although temperatures will near 90 degrees again over the weekend, humidity will remain low Saturday, making it a wonderful time to get outside.

7-Day Forecast

On Sunday, it will be hot again with a chance for showers and storms.
