We're in for a beautiful weekend, according to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.

Friday will be about 10 degrees cooler than usual, with a high around 65 degrees in Raleigh. Skies will be cloudy at times, but there is only a small chance for a shower in the afternoon.

"The rain with this will be very light, and not everyone will see rain," Gardner said.

Saturday and Sunday look glorious, Gardner said. Both days will be sunny and bright. Highs will be in the mid 70s on Saturday, and Sunday could be the warmest day of 2020 so far, with a high around 85 degrees in Raleigh.

It will be a great weekend to get outside while social distancing.

Monday will also be nice, with sunny skies and a high around 80 degrees. A chance of rain will return mid-week, especially Tuesday and Wednesday.

April was the windiest April ever recorded at RDU, with 13 days seeing wind gusts over 30 mph, Gardner said. Looking ahead, May could be cooler and unsettled than normal, so soak up the sunshine this weekend.
