A Fuquay-Varina man died Monday afternoon when his motorcycle crashed in Johnston County, authorities said.

<b>ANGIER, N.C.</b> — A Fuquay-Varina man died Monday afternoon when his motorcycle crashed in Johnston County, authorities said.

Derek Edward McLellan, 24, was southbound on Old Fairground Road near Angier at about 2 p.m. when he crossed the center line and over-corrected, authorities said. His 2012 Kawasaki ran off the right side of the road and hit a pole.

McLellan was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh, where he was pronounced dead.
