Funeral planned for Moore assistant principal

Moore County authorities charged Randy Martin Baughn, 38, with shooting and killing his wife, Abigail "Abby" Alexander Baughn, 36.

Randy Baughn called 911 Sunday evening and reported an accidental shooting at their home at 333 Baughn Trail.

When Moore County Sheriff’s deputies arrives, they found Abby Baughn dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators arrested Randy Baughn early Monday and charged him with murder. He was being held without bond in the Moore County Detention Center, and his first court appearance is scheduled for June 1.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Dr. Zeb V. Moss officiating. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to: The Abigail Baughn Memorial Scholarship Fund: c/o Pinecrest High School, 250 Voit Gilmore Ln., Southern Pines, NC 28387.
