Fund Established For Boy Accidentally Shot By Friend

A fund has been established to help with the care of a 9-year-old boy who was accidentally shot in the head by a friend a week ago.

RAEFORD, N.C. — A fund has been established to help with the care of a 9-year-old boy who was accidentally shot in the head by a friend a week ago.

All donations will go toward the medical expenses of Tyler Marshall, of Hoke County. He was listed in critical condition at WakeMed's pediatric intensive care unit on Friday afternoon.

Fayetteville, NC 28301Marshall was playing with his best friend and 10-year-old sister at his friend's house at 143 Independence Drive in Raeford on Nov. 15. The friend took out a .25-caliber handgun his parents kept in a drawer and was horseplaying when it went off, shooting Marshall in the head, authorities said.

The friend's parents, Heath Dwayne Kinney, 35, and Loriann Kinney, 41, were charged with a misdemeanor offense of sell/give weapon to a minor and were released on $5,000 unsecured bonds.
