Second Chance Pet Adoption's inaugural Furry 5K offers a morning of fun for the whole family – including family members with four legs.
The Furry 5K, which takes place at Bond Park this Saturday, features two timed 5K runs (one for people only and one that allows dogs), a 2K dog walk and a 1K senior dog walk. After the races are finished there will be many fun activities and demos: face painting, a K-9 Unit demo, a microchip clinic and several local vendors.

Registration is now $30; the prices increases to $35 on the day of the race. Check-in begins at 9 a.m., and the first 5K race will start at 10 a.m.

There will also be a Memory Trail to remember those special furry friends who have passed away. Small ornaments will be hung up that can hold a photo of a beloved pet, and guests are invited to take those ornaments home with them.

All proceeds of the Furry 5K will support Second Chance's animal rescue efforts. Second Chance is the oldest no-kill animal rescue in the Triangle.
