Fugitive wanted on human trafficking charges in Georgia taken into custody in Durham

Demetrius Lamont Edwards was charged with two counts of trafficking a person for sexual servitude and criminal attempt to commit a felony and violation of Georgia's RICO Act.

DURHAM, N.C. — A man wanted on human trafficking charges in Georgia was taken into custody in Durham.

Demetrius Lamont Edwards was charged with two counts of trafficking a person for sexual servitude and criminal attempt to commit a felony and violation of Georgia's RICO Act.

Durham County Sheriff's Office said Edwards was charged in connection into an investigation of the Pyrez Music Group. Deputies said group reportedly lured vulnerable women into prostitution.

Atlanta rapper John Michael Hakeem Gibson, also known as 'Cash Out,' was charged in the investigation.

Edwards is currently at the Durham County Detention Center under no bond and awaiting extradidition to Georgia.
