Fuel spill shuts down Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh
Raleigh authorities shut down Blue Ridge Road from Hillsborough Street to Western Boulevard Sunday evening after an oil tanker spilled fuel into a storm drain.
Posted — UpdatedAbout 100 gallons of fuel leaked out of a tanker refueling underground tanks at a gas station on Blue Ridge Road. Some of the fuel went into a storm drain, but it was contained there, said Raleigh police.
A water treatment company from Rocky Mount responded to the scene to clean the storm drain and prevent water contamination, authorities said.
Crews were still on the scene at 11 p.m. Sunday, but they said no one was injured or displaced in the spill.
