MORRISVILLE, N.C. — On Monday morning, more than 100 American Airlines flights were canceled across the country.

It's the third straight day of cancellations that are sidelining summer travel plans.

On the boards this morning at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, American Airlines has all flights leaving on time. However, Flight Aware shows 104 cancellations today, meaning connecting return flights are affected.

One passenger at RDU, Frank Huisking, told WRAL News that his daughter's flight to New York was canceled at the last minute after she was previously talking to representatives on Sunday night.

American said they’ve canceled hundreds of flights because of staff and maintenance shortages along with other issues like bad weather.

More than 300 flights were canceled between Saturday and Sunday. American Airlines says nearly 100 flights could be canceled every day through the middle of July.

American said it will attempt to notify customers far in advance of their flights and provide an opportunity for customers to rebook alternative flights through its app.

At RDU, American canceled a single flight Monday – out of 38 scheduled departures.
