Dog and Goat form unlikely friendship in Wake County

Thanksgiving Day 73 years ago, a day etched in the memories of two men from Kinston.

A Maine man has formed an unlikely friendship with a wild bird. He's been friends with the partridge for years now. 

David Westin says he met the partridge three years ago when it landed at the end of his driveway. He didn't fly off so I opened my door and talk to him for a few minutes. A couple of days later he showed up in my garage while I was out there. The Partridges. A neighbor living in the woods between Weston and his wife's grandparents. Once in a while he'd land on my truck. Weston says the bird could be a partridge or grouse, but most importantly, he's a friend. I think he appreciates my company. One of my better friends, Weston named the bird Henry. He comes to me when I call him sometimes. I don't even have to call him. He just comes out. Here's my truck like tweety, our big bird, Henry is pretty popular. He's got a lot of facebook fans. They like to see Henry's posed on the tractor on the end of a BB gun, on the end of a BB gun was hunting chipmunks. I don't think I could ever eat another partridge. Weston tells me he spends time with Henry every day and he doesn't expect that to end anytime soon.

right? Yeah. Her backyard is a convalescent home This summer. Gina K. Meyer brings a bottle every morning for her. One patient, a downed calf named cupcake. But she was my cousins, and they had worked with her for a while. We got her when she was five weeks old. She was born with her front legs like that and back legs. Also better back legs straightened up. Gina's husband, Tim, helps out, too, but the nurse spending the most time with cupcake virtually every minute is Bo a puppy, not even a year old himself, but a true friend in the making. The very first day we brought her home and gave her a bottle. He just took up with her, started licking all the milk off her face and took up with her. And what Lever? Both supposed to be Tim's new cattle dog. But his own malady kept him from doing the job he was raised for. I needed some help, thought he'd make good help, but when you put him on truck, he gets sick. So from the very first day, they were inseparable. If Cupcake had bottle, Bo wiped her face. He helped introduce her to a special mix of solid food, but mainly he was a companion. Enough is ferocity, or what it was. He would dislike, buyer and stay with her. These days of cupcake is outside. He keeps your occupied by playing or cuddling. He's protective. He's as close as any animal can be to another. I set out there with them and play with him, too. It is. It's very loving. While working with his legs and hoping for some kind of miracle, Jean has started sharing pictures of this unique friendship on social media. The response was overwhelming. No idea that it would go like that. Her snapshots seemed to capture something that cut right across any divide between human cattle or canine. This right here, this was love in its purest form. Never seen two animals take teach. And they're like that, you know, cupcakes. Future remains in doubt. Gina and her husband started a Go fund me page to raise money for an operation that might not even work. Meanwhile, bow and cupcakes seemed to be making the most of whatever time they might have sticking close like good friends always do, and showing the rest of us how to do the same.
