Friends use trash found on Fla. beach to make Christmas float
Two friends pick up beach trash every day. They are using that trash to create their holiday float for a Christmas parade.
Rebecca. Where are we going to put these guys? I thought he was screwed on uh, to friends using their creativity decorating their holiday float for a christmas parade, The theme is a reflection of christmas classics Rudolf and the island of misfit toys. Their float is called the Island of Misplaced toys. So the creature's body is made from big water drugs and his head is a water drug as well. His coat is towels that people leave behind his pants are a pair of um, actually painter's overalls, Christina, maldonado and Rebecca fat Singer walk on the beach every day picking up trash. They met several years ago having a common cause there's too much plastic pollution on our beaches. Um, the wildlife are dying from it. We, we actually saw a sperm whale um, die in front of our face this year from a rope in his throat in 2019, Christine and Rebecca won a trophy for using trash to decorate their parade float last year. Also got the community's attention this year. Well actually it's just all different types of rope that we find I took it apart and just glued this like strand by strand for this. But you just find all different kinds in the end. It's a message to care about the environment. So we go out there and try to make it a little safer for the wildlife. Every piece of trash is treasured. Rebecca used to buoys piece of a wheel, some bottle caps and this was a fabric that she found on a towel, it makes you feel good, it brings out my creative side, which I really like, and not only when I'm picking up the trash, I know I'm doing something good, but I know I'm picking up art pieces, too. That's it.
