Freight train, vehicle collide in downtown Durham

Durham police say they are investigating a crash where a vehicle and freight train collided at the intersection of North Duke Street and East Pettigrew Street.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police say they are investigating a crash where a vehicle and freight train collided in downtown Durham.

East Pettigrew Street at South Mangum Street and Corcoran Street were blocked off on Monday afternoon while officials investigated the crash.

Police said people driving through downtown Durham should expect delays.

Photos show a minivan crushed underneath the train.

Officials have not said if there were any injuries in the crash.
