A quick note to share that Dr. Amy Tiemann, Kidpower child safety expert and an award-winning author and educator, will be offering a free seminar next Wednesday that's open to the public.

The seminar, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday will focus on abuse prevention and how to ensure your kids are well-versed in safety skills. Topics include preventing abuse and molestation or abduction by strangers or acquaintances; teaching children how to talk to strangers; and making safety skills part of daily life to increase a child's confidence while reducing anxiety.

The program is at the Montessori School of Raleigh. Registration is required. To register, contact Stephanie at 919.848.1545 or sh@msr.org. Due to the nature of the discussion, the program is for adults only.

You might remember my earlier posts on Tiemann, which you can see in the box above. She is a local award-winning author and educator who wrote "Mojo Mom: Nurturing Your Self While Raising a Family." She also is a certified Kidpower instructor and center director for Kidpower North Carolina, which helps kids practice personal safety, confidence, self-protection and advocacy skills.
