You will be able to bring up to 3 boxes or bags of documents for shredding as well as up to five electronics for collection and secure destruction.
The event will be held in Raleigh on Saturday, April 27 from 8 am to 11:30 am (or until the trucks are full).
The event address is Coastal Credit Union Headquarters, 1000 St. Albans Dr., Raleigh.
According the press release, "An easy drive-thru experience, area residents can bring up to three boxes/bags per person for complimentary document shredding as well as up to five electronics for collection and secure destruction, courtesy of partners Shred-It and GEEP. Volunteers move all items to the shredding and electronic collection trucks while visitors stay in their car and watch their sensitive items be destroyed or recycled. Electronics accepted for collection range from items like computers, cell phones and tablets to TVs, printers, fax machines, DVD/CD players, microwaves and toasters. "
“On average, according to the Federal Trade Commission, there are more than 9 million victims of identity theft each year in the United States – it’s a scary statistic that many don’t realize,” said Coastal spokesman Joe Mecca. “This Secure Your ID Day event with BBB serving Eastern North Carolina provides a necessary service in letting Triangle citizens breathe easier about the security and safe disposal of their private information.”
