Four Oaks, N.C. — Commissioner Chris Haley resigned Thursday from the Four Oaks Town Council, two weeks after he was arrested on drug charges.
Haley, 61, was among dozens of people nabbed in a yearlong drug investigation in Johnston County. Operation JoCo Justice targeted suspected drug dealers in Smithfield, Selma, Four Oaks and other area communities.
Haley was charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to sell controlled substances.
The Four Oaks Town Council unanimously accepted his resignation in a special called meeting. Haley had served six years on the council.
