FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Four Cumberland County schools were without water Friday morning because of a PWC outage, officials said.
Cumberland County Schools dispensed water to Howard Hall Elementary School, Pine Forest Middle School, Pine Forest High School and Longhill Elementary School and moved lunch up so students could eat.
Students were dismissed three hours early at all four schools, officials said.
"We had low pressure at some of the schools. Some of the schools were without water," school district spokeswoman Lindsay Whitley said. "So, [it was] varying issues at different schools, but they are all impacted by the water situation. We're working very closely with PWC to rectify the situation. My understanding is they do know what the issue is and they're working to fix it."
PWC officials said a break in an 8-inch water line caused the outage, and crews hope to have it repaired by 5 p.m.
Residents affected by the outage won't need to boil their water once the break is fixed and water is restored, officials said.
