Highlighting Black History Month

Every Monday, we'll uncover stories from the Underground Railroad, visiting sites that played an important role in this history. We'll take you for a firsthand look at these sites, walking in the footsteps where Freedom Seekers and abolitionists once walked – and telling you their stories.

Every Friday, we'll highlight modern day leaders and change makers in the Black community who are working to implement change. We'll air never-before-seen video of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. speaking at Reynolds Coliseum in July 1966 and hear memories from someone who was there that day. We'll delve into the rich history of hip hop in North Carolina and talk to the local music pioneers who helped it grow. Look for stories about the rebuilding of a historic Black church – and desegregation efforts at UNC and in Durham schools.

You can find these powerful stories on TV, our website, live streams and podcasts airing every Monday and Friday.
