Fort Bragg soldier killed in motorcycle crash

A Fort Bragg soldier was killed earlier this month in a motorcycle crash, officials released Monday.

BUNNLEVEL, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier was killed earlier this month in a motorcycle crash, officials released Monday.

The crash occurred on Nov. 7 around 6 p.m., according to a press release from Fort Bragg. Sgt. Joel Goyco, 40, of New York, was found dead at the scene of a motorcycle crash at US-401 and McLean Chapel Church Road.

Goyco was a senior mechanic assigned to the Headquarters Support Company, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, Division Artillery, 82nd Abn. Div.
  
“Sgt. Goyco was an amazing paratrooper and leader. He always had a positive attitude and had many friends throughout the battalion,” said Lt. Col. Jason Dumser, commander of the HHBn, DIVARTY, 82nd Abn. Div. “Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to his family, loved ones and friends during this difficult time.”
  

Goyco joined the Army in April 2007.
