<b>FORT BRAGG, N.C.</b> — A Fort Bragg soldier was killed in Afghanistan last week, the Department of Defense announced Monday.

Staff Sgt. Edwardo Loredo, 34, of Houston, Texas, died Thursday at Jelewar after insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device, officials said. 

Loredo was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.
