Former Rep. Dollar joins speaker's staff
Nelson Dollar, a Wake County Republican, lost his re-election bid in November. He will make $117,000 in his new job.
Posted — UpdatedThe former chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, Dollar will make $117,495 a year, an upgrade from the roughly $14,000 a year state legislators make in addition to per diems and expense reimbursements.
Dollar has been heavily involved in a number of complex issues at the statehouse, including budget negotiations and the state's ongoing Medicaid reform efforts. He is a political and media consultant by trade.
“The Speaker’s office is fortunate to add the expertise of a former senior appropriations chairman whose budgets produced record savings reserves and revenue surpluses while implementing tax relief, historic accomplishments that are driving North Carolina’s current economic momentum," Moore spokesman Joseph Kyzer said in an email.
