RALEIGH, N.C. — Former North Carolina State University football player Joseph Boletepeli is back in jail after violating the terms of his release on charges he communicated threats to current NC State Coach Dave Doeren.
Boletepeli, who played defensive line for the Wolfpack in 2018 and 2019 before transferring to Maryland, was charged in November with threatening and stalking Doeren.

He was placed on house arrest on Nov. 18 and was required to wear an ankle monitor, according to court documents. He was arrested again on Dec. 1 after damaging his ankle monitor and is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Boletepeli, 22, was also charged with misdemeanor stalking and resisting a public officer. During his arrest, Boletepeli pulled away to avoid being handcuffed by officers, according to warrants.

This is not the first time Boletepeli has posted threatening messages on social media, according to the warrant. Investigators said Boletepeli went to Doeren's place of work several times and also sent threats through text message and social media to Doeren.
