Raleigh, N.C. — Ann Majestic, an attorney who represented the Wake County Board of Education during a contentious round of reassignment in 2010 and 2011, has died, according to her employer, Tharrington Smith.
The Raleigh-based law firm posted about Majestic's passing Saturday on its Facebook page:
"We are devastated that Ann Majestic lost her fierce battle with breast cancer earlier today. Ann was nationally-renowned education lawyer, beloved wife and mother and cherished coworker and friend. We love you, Ann, and will carry you with us always."
Majestic graduated from Duke Law School and joined Tharrington Smith in 1983. She concentrated on education law throughout her career.
