Tonight is the Kids Summer Stock Social Media Mixer at the Food Bank in Raleigh. It's your chance to help the 250,000 kids who will be without enough food this summer.  The event is free but you are asked to bring canned or non-perishable food donations.  Click on the link in the box to go to the registration page. Although the event is free, they ask that you register.  They only ask for name and e-mail - it's very easy to sign up. I'll be there to check it out shortly after 6:00 pm - I hope to see you there!

You can a tour of the main warehouse in Raleigh, meet with volunteers, enjoy a chilled glass of lemonade from an authentic kids lemonade stand and take a photo with the Food Bank mascot, Souper Can. The kids can color and create a "Coins-for-Charity" can bank at the activity table!

There will also be prizes including:

•A Hurricanes Hockey Puck signed by Cam Ward
•An "I Love Hockey" Kids T-shirt signed by the Hurricanes team
•A 3-Night Stay at a Beautiful Mountain Cabin near Boone
•A Whimsical Wooden Marble Chaser
•A Fabulous Set of Jewelry
•An Autographed Copy of "Lock and Key" by Sarah Dessen

•Regal Theatre Movie Night Prize Basket (includes 4 theatre tickets, t-shirts & movie snacks)

Here is some more information on the Kids Summer Stock program from the Food Bank website:

"More than 250,000 children in our 34 counties are in the free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs at school. For them, summertime doesn't mean a fun filled vacation; for them, no school means no meals.

Kids Summer Stock is a community-wide food and funds drive to provide the additional food needed to support these children and their families, as well as supporting summer meals programs. Through a series of concerts, festivals, and events, collection of food and funds will help fill the empty shelves of Food Bank warehouses in Durham, Greenville, Raleigh, Sandhills and Wilmington during the summer.

You can support the Food Bank branch in your community by holding food and funds drives, attending an event or by donating. For every dollar donated, the Food Bank can distribute $8 worth of food, or 4 meals."
