Florida teen survives gator attack
Authorities say the 14-year-old and his mother were walking their two dogs near a pond when the alligator attacked.

The surface doesn't look like it now, but at the time it was sunny weather. It was nice, and I think that they were just enjoying the cool water. This area on Thrush Drive doesn't have any homes nearby, but it seems like a popular place to bring your pets. We found a dog treat container right by the water. We aren't sure if it's from this family. It's important to keep your pets on a leash. Make sure you educate your Children that if you're near the water, you're going to be near alligators. F. W. C thinks the 14 year old might have spooked the gator when the boy was near the water, causing the gator to bite him on the leg. A chopper rushed the teen to Tampa General Hospital. F. W C says Florida is known for gators, and people need to be aware of their presence, but adds it doesn't want gators to get too comfortable with humans. We certainly don't want to feed alligators. That's a problem that we've had in the past. It basically gives the alligator lesser fear or no fear of humans. And they will approach you and sometimes can create a conflict.
