Five-year-old hit by car in Durham

The child was returning home from a nearby park when the incident occurred. The child, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital to be treated for non life threatening injuries.

DURHAM, N.C. — A 5-year-old child was hit by a car on Saturday at 311 Swift Ave., Durham Police said.

The child was returning home from a nearby park with his adult uncle when the incident occurred around 2 p.m. The child, whose name has not been released, abruptly ran into the street and was struck by a car. He was treated at the Duke University Hospital's emergency room for minor injuries.

No one was charged in the accident, police said
