The first Native American district attorney in North Carolina to his oath of office Thursday evening.

Matthew Scott will serve as the district attorney in Robeson County.

The swearing in took place at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Scott is a lifelong resident of Robeson County and a graduate of Purnell Swett High School.
