RALEIGH, N.C. — It's the first day of spring -- and with temperatures in the 70s and 80s ahead, it certainly feels like it.

Thursday will be one of the warmest days of the week, with a high around 79 degrees in Raleigh. Friday will be even warmer, with a high in the low to mid 80s, but it won't beat the March 20 heat record of 88 degrees.

Both days will be cloudy but dry. If you can handle the pollen, it will be a good time to break out the shorts and spend time outdoors.

Temperatures will cool down a bit for Saturday, which will be in the low 70s, and on Sunday, which will feature a high in the mid 50s.

There is a chance for light showers late Friday and early Saturday, but more rain could fall Sunday night and into Monday morning.
