FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Firefighters were at the scene of a large brush fire in Fayetteville on Wednesday night at the same time a red flag warning for dangerous fire conditions was expiring.

Firefighters were called at 8 p.m. to the 7300 block of Raeford Road for a large woods fire.

The red flag warning, which expired at 8 p.m. in central North Carolina, was because of low humidity and gusty winds.

Fire officials said there was significant fire on both sides of railroad tracks in the area, but no injuries were reported.

Firefighters warned that lingering smoke could cause visibility issues on Raeford Road, Old Raeford Road and Reilly Road.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
