CARY, N.C. — A home under construction in Wake County was overtaken by a fire on Friday night.

The fire happened in the 2600 block of Kildaire Farm Road in Cary.

Swift Creek Fire Department officials said it took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control at the 5,000-square foot home.

Witnesses described flames that reached as high as 50 feet.

"You could tell through the woods that the entire home was on fire. The flames were probably at least 50 feet high and the smoke 100 to 150 feet high in the air," said witness Walker Burnette. "On Kildarie Farm Road, there was debris landing from the fire on the road that was actually still on fire."

Fire officials said the neighborhood behind the home had spot fires from the debris.

No one was injured in the fire.

Kildaire Farm Road was shut down as firefighters worked to put out the fire.
