Firefighters put out fire at Cumberland County Board of Education building

The fire started just before 5 p.m.in the 2400 block of Gillespie Drive in Fayetteville. The building was not secured and not occupied when the fire alarm started, according to fire officials.

When they arrived, firefighters said they found smoke stained windows and blinds that appeared to have suffered heat damage.

Firefighters said they found a fire inside a small aquarium in one of the Cumberland County Board of Education rooms.

The fire was put out, firefighters said, and the building was ventilated to remove smoke.

The Cumberland County Board of Education building was not damaged from the fire, but fire officials said surrounding areas did have minor smoke damage.

No one was injured in the fire.
