Firefighters battled a blaze Sunday evening at the Smithfield Packing Plant in Sampson County.

<b>CLINTON, N.C.</b> — Firefighters battled a blaze Sunday evening at the Smithfield Packing Plant in Sampson County.

The fire started at about 6 p.m. at the facility, 424 East Railroad St., Clinton. Crews were able to get the blaze under control about two hours later.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Sunday evening.
