One firefighter was injured battling a fire that left two dogs dead in Goldsboro.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A firefighter is recovering after being hurt battling a fire at a home in Goldsboro.

Flames broke out just before 9 p.m. on Sunday along Aycock Avenue.

City officials said firefighters found two dogs inside. Sadly, they had died.

One firefighter was hurt trying to put out those flames and was treated at the scene.

The homeowner was not inside at the time.

The fire seriously damaged most of the home, according to officials, but investigators have not shared with WRAL News whether or not they've discovered the fire's cause.
