Fire tears through Wake Co. chicken house that produces 16K eggs a month

WENDELL, N.C. — A massive fire tore through a chicken house in eastern Wake County on Friday morning.

The building is on Lizard Lick Road in Wendell. The fire was reported around 2 a.m.

The coop is part of a farm that produces around 16,000 eggs a month. No chickens were inside the building. No one was hurt.

Fire crews from Zebulon, Rolesville and the Hopkins community responded.
