Fire tears through Sanford building, damaging bowling alley and refrigeration business
A fire at two Sanford businesses within the same building caused extensive damage overnight, keeping firefighters busy for hours.
Posted — UpdatedA building on Rand Street that houses Kendale Bowling Lanes and United Refrigeration caught fire around midnight. There's significant damage to the structure after the fire produced massive flames.
Some of the equipment and chemicals inside the refrigeration business accelerated the fire, which became so strong at one point crews were dumping water on it just to contain it. Around 4 a.m., the fire appeared to be extinguished.
The manager of the refrigeration business told WRAL they were devastated to see this.
There are no known injuries. The cause of the fire is also unknown.
