Fire Guts Raleigh Furniture Store

RALEIGH, N.C. — A fire heavily damaged Schumacher's by Design furniture store in Raleigh Monday evening.
Numerous fire stations responded to the blaze at 8740 Glenwood Ave. , which broke out around 7:30 p.m. Crews had it under control by 8:15 p.m.
The fire gutted the interior of the 3,500-square-foot store, leaving only the frame standing. Officials said the building did not have a sprinkler system. No injuries were reported.
The total cost of damages is estimated to be $500,000. Schumacher's was established in 2001 and is family owned.
Officials said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
