ORIENTAL, N.C. — Lightning was to blame for a fire that destroyed a multimillion-dollar home in the small coastal town of Oriental Wednesday evening.

WNCT-TV reported that more than 50 firefighters fought the blaze for several hours before they were able to contain it.

No one was at the home, in the River Dunes community, at the time of the fire, authorities said.

In 2007, the home gained international attention when it was featured in Coastal Living magazine as the "Idea House" for its modern design.

The owners plan to rebuilt, WNCT reported.
