— Fire destroyed a home on Holman Lane, off Old School Road, in Carborro on Friday.

A family of six, including three children, made it out safely when flames broke out around 5 p.m.

Sada Holman was in the home at the time of the blaze and said the fire started from a wood burning stove.

"About the time we were getting the kids out because of the smoke, and after the smoke there came the flames and it shot and now we are homeless," she said. "We lost everything, except what we walked outside in."

The Red Cross provided the family with four nights of shelter, food, clothing, shoes, baby supplies and winter garments.

No injuries were reported, and the cause was under investigation.

More information was not immediately available.
