A fire destroyed a home in Johnston County early Monday.

BENSON, N.C. — A fire destroyed a home in Johnston County early Monday.
Around 1:30 a.m., firefighters responded to the home on E. King Circle. The fire destroyed the single-family home before crews could extinguish it, and the home beside it was also damaged.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
A neighbor said the owners of the home were in the process of moving. Another neighbor said the home had suffered a small fire the week before.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
