FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — An apartment building on Southern Avenue in Fayetteville caught on fire.

Two families were displaced, but no one was injured by the Friday night blaze at 1047 Southern Ave., firefighters said.

A caller reported smoke coming out of the building's roof around 11:30 p.m., Calvin Bishop, a Fayetteville Fire Department battalion commander, said.

Damages to the building, which is divided into five apartments, have not yet been estimated.

Bishop said the fire was probably accidental, and a preliminary investigation showed electrical wiring to the air conditioner may have caused the blaze.
