A woman and her pets were left homeless after a house fire in Durham.

Durham Fire Department was called to a house fire in the 1200 block of Umstead Road around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

When they arrived, they found a two-story house with fire showing on one side. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to get the fire under control.

The woman was left homeless due to heavy fire, smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
