Fire crews put out blaze at Johnston County church

At least five fire departments responded to extinguish the fire at Trinity Baptist Church. The pastor discovered the fire while working in his office around 9 a.m.

BENSON, N.C. — A Johnston County church caught on fire Wednesday.

At least five fire departments responded to extinguish the fire at Trinity Baptist Church. The pastor discovered the fire while working in his office around 9 a.m.

Volunteer firefighters rushed to the scene, located the fire upstairs and dragged a fire hose to the attic to extinguish the flames.

The church is located along Highway 50 in the Meadow community. The building is more than 70 years old.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
